Author: DUNCAN, PAWS Foster Puppy
Hi friends!
It’s me—DUNCAN! The fluffy golden boy, professional belly-rub collector, and very serious learner in the PAWS puppy program. And guess what?
I just turned ONE YEAR OLD!
That’s right. Twelve whole months of growing, learning, zooming, and spreading joy everywhere I go. I’ve celebrated many things this year—new commands, new friends, new places—but turning one feels extra special because it means I am one giant paw-step closer to becoming someone’s life-changing assistance or facility dog.
Whew… it has been a busy year! Let me recap:
I learned to sit, stay, wait, and walk like a gentleman.
The “walk like a gentleman” part is still a work in progress if I see a squirrel. Or a leaf. Or a nice person. Or a snack. But, I am trying.
I discovered that kibble is delicious. But cheese? Cheese is MAGIC.
(Future trainer: please take notes.)
Best of all: I learned that dogs like me help people live safer, stronger, more independent lives.
And that’s the coolest thing EVER.
Did you say birthday wish? I have one of those!
No, it’s not for toys.
It’s not for treats.
(It might be for treats, but that’s not my official wish.)
My birthday wish is simple:
That more dogs like me get the chance to change a life.
That more clients experience independence, confidence, and safety.
That our PAWS community keeps growing stronger.
If you want to help make my birthday wish come true, consider supporting PAWS or giving in honor of a pup who’s changing the world—one tail wag at a time.
(Okay, but also maybe a chew toy. Just saying.)
Thanks for Celebrating Me!
Thank you for being part of my journey. This year has been full of learning, laughter, and love—and next year will be even bigger as I am only a couple of months away from moving to advanced training.
I can’t wait to make you proud.
Paws up, friends. Here’s to being ONE!
Puppy Kisses,
DUNCAN 🐶
